She was a lucky woman.

There was no doubt.

The Next Morning

Alyona’s Bed

Friday

Eight A.M.

When he rolled over, Jax reached for Aly, and his hand only touched a cold bed.

Immediately, he sat up and looked around.

That’s when he realized it.

She.

Was.

Gone.

Oh, holy shit! This couldn’t be happening again. There was no way she ran again.

Getting out of bed, he replayed the evening in his head. They had sex, got engaged, had more sex, napped, had sex again, and then fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Now, she was gone.

He moved around the room, and her shoes and purse were nowhere to be found.

Jesus.

H.

Christ.

This couldn’t be happening.

Immediately, his blood pressure went up, and he started seeing red.

No, that was an understatement. He’d honestly believed they’d gotten past this last night, and here he was, clearly left behind again.

This was it.

Pulling on his jeans, he grabbed his clothes and figured he was going to have to find her.

Again.

Only, this time, there would be a fight. How could there not be? He was tired of the runaway girlfriend and now, the runaway fiancée.

When he headed into her living room, he saw a note on the table, and that fear had him by the balls.

And here they went again.

Did she change her mind?

Picking it up, his hands shook in anger, but he still read it over.

‘I didn’t have coffee at the apartment. I’m grabbing us breakfast. I’ll be right back. Fiancée Alyona.’

And it hit him.

She wasn’t running away from him again. Instead, she was just doing a normal thing.

God.

He was grateful she left this note, or he would have made an asshole out of himself.

Without a doubt.

It appeared that, finally, for him, the chase was now over.

Instead, he calmed the hell down to wait for his fiancée to come home. Finding a spot on the couch, he plopped down and started making plans.

He was three phone calls in when he heard the door unlock downstairs.

“Aly?”

She called up to him.

“Da!”

It made him grin.

As she came bounding up the stairs, he saw her carrying some things.

Immediately, he helped her.

Taking the coffee and bag of goodies, he saw she was holding two garment bags.

“What do we have here?” he asked.

She grinned.

“Coffee.”

Yeah, no.

“I meant inside the garment bags.”

Well, she was honest.

“I had every intent of just getting coffee, but then I walked past this little shop, and in the window, there was this dress.”

She unzipped it and showed him.

Holy shit!

He wasn’t expecting the one eighty. Someone went from running from to running at him.

FULL SPEED.

It was a wedding dress.

“Uh, Aly, you bought a wedding dress at eight in the morning.”

She smiled.

“By bought do you mean broke in, used some tech to block the video, tried on the dresses, picked the one I wanted, and stole it? Then yes. I bought a dress at seven thirty in the morning—not eight.”

He stared at her.

Then, he began laughing.

“You stole the dress?”

“I mean, I left money on the counter. So not really. The owner is going to be so confused.
